These are some of the tools I use to build the things I love.

I'm asked frequently about the stack and hardware I use to make my life a little bit easier.

Workstation

  • 16” MacBook Pro, M1 Max, 64GB RAM (2021)

I was using an Intel-based 16” MacBook Pro prior to this and the difference is night and day. The battery improvement is night and day compared to the previous Intel model.

  • LG 32” UltraFine Display Ergo UHD 4K IPS Display

This is an alternative to the Apple Pro Display XDR that I’ve been using and it is just as good for a fraction of the price.

  • Apple Magic Keyboard

I use the standard Apple Magic Keyboard primarily because it's what I am use to. I have tried other keyboards but I always come back to this one.

  • Apple Magic Trackpad

Something about all the gestures makes me feel like a wizard with special powers. I have tried and can't go back to a mouse.

  • X-Tech Ultimate Executive Chair

With a body-contoured seat, temperature-regulating fabrics, lightweight frame and action sport-inspired wheels, every sit becomes magical.

Development tools

  • Visual Studio Code

VSCode has become a staple and I spend much of my day in it. I have tried the other IDE's yet find myself always coming back to VSCode.

  • ChatGPT

That's right, I use AI to help me write code. Although it's not perfect, it's a great tool to get another set of 'eyes' on your code.

  • Github CoPilot

I let GitHub CoPilot finish this sentence for me. I use it to help (see not perfect)

Design

  • Figma

We started using Figma as just a design tool but now it’s become our virtual whiteboard for the entire company. Figma is the greatest design software that has ever existed.

Productivity

  • Sticky Notes

That's right, give me one sticky note per day with 3 - 5 check boxes and I'm good to go. I have tried all the productivity apps and it amazes me how much more productive I am with a simple sticky note. Not to mention the euphoria of checking off those boxes.
